Officers

Following is the list of currently serving officers of the Metro Phoenix Chapter of the American Payroll Association. To contact one of the officers by email, simply click their name.

President
Jennifer Middelkamp, CPP - Jennifer Middelkamp has been in the payroll profession for over 20 years. She started her payroll adventure in the retail industry, also working in the manufacturing, hospitality and finance industries. She is currently the payroll supervisor for Rummel Construction and had worked in the construction industry for 6 years. She obtained her CPP in 1997. Jennifer has been a local and national member over 10 years. She has served on the local chapter membership and newsletter committees, and has help plan 4 state conferences. This year, Jennifer received a citation of merit from the APA for her efforts on the Hotline referral.

Vice President
Joann McCarty PHR, CPP - Joann McCarty is currently working as a Payroll/Human Resource Manager for a Tempe based Construction Consulting firm in Arizona. Joann previously served as a Payroll/Tax Subject Matter Expert and Payroll Manager with other employers and has over 15 years of experience in payroll processing, tax reporting, accounting and supervisory experience. Joann obtained both a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), and Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certifications in 2001. She has been a National Member of the American Payroll Association (APA) since 1998, and also a National Member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is a local member with the Metro Phoenix APA Chapter, the East Valley Human Resource Association (EVHRA) and the Ahwahtukee Chamber of Chamber of Commerce. She is formerly from Long Island, New York and has been a resident of the Valley for almost two years.

Treasurer
Cheryl Carstensen, CPP - Cheryl is the Payroll Coordinator for TRW Safety Systems. Cheryl has served on several state payroll conference planning committees. Cheryl is an active member of the Metro Phoenix Chapter taking meeting reservations and printing membership certificates among other things.

Secretary
Vivian Hill, CPP - Vivian is the Payroll Tax Manger for US Airways. Vivian has 17 years of payroll experience mostly in multi-state tax. She has a BA in Accounting and is a CPP.

Government Liason
Judie Aranyos, CPP - Judie has over 20 years experience in the Payroll field, working in companies with 1,200 to over 100,000 employees.  For the past ten years, she has been employed by American Express as a Payroll Financial Analyst. She has multi state tax experience with employees in all 50 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Judie has dealt with expatriate and visa employees. A member of the National APA for 20 plus years, she was one of the founding members of the Metro Phoenix Chapter.  Judie was one of the original people to work on the committe that presented the first Arizona State Payroll Conference.  Earning her CPP certification in 1995 she has also received Citations of Merit from National APA in 2002, 2003 and 2005 for her work on Chapter of the Year Committee.
