Metro Phoenix, APA Chapter meeting: Tuesday, May 15, 2001
Meeting called to order by: President, Cindy Gibson
Old Business: Theresa Mejia read the treasures report. The beginning
balance was $3103.81, Deposits of $545.50, Withdrawals of $656.69,
the ending balance was $2992.62. The report was accepted and seconded
by the membership.
Sue Santee read the secretary's report. The report was approved
and seconded as written by the membership.
Old business:
- Vickie Dunster is preparing for the fall CPP test / Study Group.
Brenda Norman passed the CPP test. (CPP pin will be presented
next month)
- Vicki Dunster, Govt Liason, announced that the IRS is planning
an increase to the 401K plan and that age should change the maximum
contribution.
- Jeff G did not have a National APA update.
- State Conference Update - postcards were printed and will be
mailed soon. Vicki is still looking for sponsors to help with
printing and other misc tasks. Kudos went to the City of Scottsdale
and American Express for supporting the APA state conference.
Registration packets will only be mailed to those requesting it
via e-mail or phone. The cost is:
- 1 day = $150 member 1 day = $175 non-member
- 2 day = $250 member 2 day = $275 non-member
New Business:
New Members were recognized. Job announcements were read. Cindy
announced she would be sending the Chapter Newsletter out electronically
by the end of the week. Sara Graf volunteered to coordinate NPW
(Sept 3-7). She's looking for a co-chair. By-Laws are being reviewed
by the board officers (along w/job descriptions). Be thinking about
running for office, elections are in a few months. Various National
APA sponsored courses were announced. Account Solutions presented
Cindy with a gift. The National APA is looking for a facilitator
for the Tax Class on May 25th. Jeff Geisler volunteered. Certificates
of Membership were distributed by Vickie Dunster.
Next months meeting is scheduled for June 19th.
Tonight's speaker was Eva Turner from the Local Problem Resolution
Office of the IRS, speaking on the fundamentals of the tax resolution
office. She talked about how her office could assist both employers
and civilians in resolving IRS problems. They can help with garnishments
and levies, too. She distributed handouts also.
Presentation was 35 minutes. 42 Members in attendance.
President Cindy Gibson adjourned the meeting at 7:30pm.
