Minutes - April
Metro Phoenix, APA Chapter meeting: Tuesday, April 17, 2001
Meeting called to order by: President, Cindy Gibson at 6:24 pm
Old Business: Theresa Mejia read the treasures report. The beginning
balance was $3,265.18. Deposits of $775.00. Withdrawals of $936.37.
The ending balance was $3,103.81. The report was accepted and seconded
by the membership.
Sue Santee read the secretary's report. The report was approved
and seconded as written by the membership.
Old business:
- Keri Marchant announced that the CPP study group was preparing
for the CPP & FPC exam
- Vickie Dunster was not available to give a Government Liaison
Report
- Jeff Geisler shared newspapers for the Congress. Newspapers
were distributed in place of hotel TV coverage. He talked about
Congress speakers. Next year is the 20th Anniversary of the National
APA Congress and it will be held in San Antonio.
- Vicky Harrison announced that Sue Santee had updated our web
page with state conference information. Forms are on the back
table requesting employer support with printing, copying, financial,
etc.
- National DD Week balloons, stickers, and website information
to obtain additional advertising literature was distributed. National
DD week is May 14 - 18th.
New Business:
- New Member's were recognized: Sonda Mosley
- Guest were recognized: Luke Galinas, Dan Goldman, & Koko
Kuzmanoff
- Two job announcements were made for Lewis & Roche and the
City of Scottsdale
- Sue Santee announced that the DOR will have the Employer Potpourri
2001 on June 19th in Phoenix and on June 20th in Tempe. The cost
is $69.00 and CEU's are available. Registration forms were made
available on the back table. The registration forms will be distributed
electronically, later in the week.
- Cindy Gibson announced that all board positions are open for
the August election. New officers will begin their positions in
September. Please consider running for an office.
- Any members wanting to suggest a specific speaker or topic should
contact Judy Aranyos.
- If you haven't received your Certificate of Membership, please
see a board officer.
- Cindy Gibson announced the "Member of the 1st Quarter".
The well deserved recipient was Theresa Mejia with SRP. Theresa
has volunteered her services with the chapter board and numerous
other chapter committees for several years. She also set up the
electronic distribution list for meeting notices and maintains
the chapter membership. Theresa is currently our chapter treasurer.
Great Job Theresa. She was awarded an engraved star desk weight.
We truly appreciate your efforts and commitment to the Metro Phoenix,
APA chapter.
Next months meeting is scheduled for May 15th. The speaker will
be Eva Turner from the Local Problem Resolution Office of the IRS.
Tonight's speaker is Gary Niki and DeAnna Fagan from the Red Cross
talking about disaster recovery & preparedness. Gary talked
about disaster preparation, education of disaster plans, talked
about state disasters, distributed literature, and options of volunteering
with Red Cross. His quote of the night was "Red Cross is there
when help can't wait."
Presentation was 55 minutes with 31 members in attendance.
President Cindy Gibson adjourned the meeting at 7:56 pm.
